LTK: December 22, 2009 [Dec. 22nd, 2009|06:09 pm]
wr2bamblog
Today is my last day of work until 2010! It'll also probably be my last blog post until 2010, since I'll be on vacation starting tomorrow. Sorry for how slow it's been around here lately -- I promise once January rolls around WR2BAM will pick back up to its usual few-times-a-week posting schedule. Anyway, here's today's outfit:

I bought these sequined leggings a couple of months ago after a lot of hunting for the right ones. Originally I wanted black, but all of the affordable pairs I saw looked really cheap -- I was looking for a pair that was well-made and totally drenched in sequins, and even some of the higher-end pairs just weren't right. So when I found this gunmetal pair, I was willing to concede on the color because I was pretty much in love.

Click for full size.

I don't know if you can tell in the above photo, but the leggings are actually constructed of two layers -- the underlayer is superfine gray mesh, and the overlayer is literally nothing but sequins stitched together. Perfect. I also love the slightly cropped silhouette. I wear these on the weekend with ballet flats and casual long tees for a sort of glammy take on the classic "Funny Face" look, and for night they've been my party dress alternative all holiday season. Love them, love them, can't get enough of them.

Sisal bouclé babydoll coat: Zara, a gift from my boyfriend.
Cowl-neck tunic sweater: $30, H&M.
Black fringe scarf: $18, Urban Outfitters.
Oversized sunglasses: Chloé, $75, Loehmann's.
Gunmetal sequined leggings: Akira Black Label, $40, Akira Chicago.
Black suedette platforms: Michael Antonio, $40, Endless.
Black faceted stud earrings: $12, Express.

Happy holidays to all my readers -- I love you guys! See you next year!

I received the following message from Reese Butler, Founder of HopeLine, this morning. . .

Frank -
This was unbelievable. What a great effort and response. The comments are so profound and caring. Some made the donation and asked that the book be sent directly to someone else as a gift. Some who lost loved ones to suicide and thought this would be a healing gesture. It is truly heart warming and amazing to read each one.

Thank you so much for your support, Frank. And sincere
thanks to all of the volunteers at the Hope Center!

-----Email Message-----
Thank you for the good work you continue to perform. You have
helped me personally and I am honored to give back.

-----Email Message-----
I am an avid postsecret fan - checking every Sunday with my fiance, even attended a live show in Peoria - and recently saw your response to a woman's message about her feelings of sadness and helplessness. I think your hopeline is such a great thing. I am happy that both you and Frank Warren have found your calling - happy for you, but mostly happy for those lives you impact, and, ultimately save.

-----Email Message-----
I just saw your message on PostSecret about responding to non crises. Is there any way that I could help with this by volunteering and taking calls? I'd absolutely love to help out! Thank you!

wr2bamblog
Phew, you guys, I'm so busy! I totally miss and feel like I'm neglecting WR2BAM right now, but work is so insane during the holidays and I have so much to do I just haven't had to time or energy to update. I promise yet again that things will be back on track in 2010. In the meantime, here are some more inspiration photos to tickle your fancy...

As usual these images are all from Tumblr (follow me at BACKSEAT CONFIDENTIAL); if you know credit or have any to add just let me know! Miss you all. Back sooner rather than later, I hope!

She was pretty, she used to climb trees. She made jewelry for her family for Christmas. She was the single mother of a son she loved. She tried her hardest, but just like the rest of us, she made mistakes. And we forgave her for them, just like we forgive you.

I work in the ICU and Google almost all of my patients. I found out one patient adored her granddaughters more than anything, so I made sure that her granddaughters were allowed in before anyone else.

I baked Christmas cookies with my friend the other day and I'm really scared he's going to think that I sent this in.

I stood right where this picture was taken on the only hill in Paris this weekend and that's when I decided that I wasn't going to just accept who I've become, but instead work to make myself a better person--the one I always wanted to be, but never quite had the courage to achieve.

The Basilica of the Sacred Heart has been the destination for my future
pilgrimage ever since my dad played the John Denver song "A Country Girl
in Paris". I know for certain that something amazing is waiting for me up
upon Montmartre, and I hope - more than anything - that what I find there
is self-acceptance. "For even in her sorrow, there's something in her

My boyfriend makes me use a wheelchair. He says it's the only way he's attracted to me. I wish I could fly away.

Frank,

I sometimes feel depressed, though thankfully never to the point where I consider suicide. Sometimes I want to call the Suicide Hotline to talk to someone that can help me, but I am worried that I will be occupying someone, and preventing another more desperate caller from getting the help they need. Is there a different number to call that more suits my situation?

-----Email Response-----

Dear Sara,

Frank forwarded your request onto to me. We created 1-800-442-HOPE
(4673) to serve as a warm line for those that were not suicidal but
still wanting to talk with someone who could offer a empathetic ear. The
only caveat is if the crisis line worker gets a crisis call they will
have to end the call with the non crisis caller.

I hope this answers your question and provides the support you are
looking for. If it does not please let me know and I will provide other
referrals for you.

Best always,
